At The Dogs Body we also offer a partial grooming
service, when it is unnecessary for a full groom.
Things like nail clipping, ear plucking and bathing
falls into this category. Nail clipping is important
to do as nails can grow very quickly and within a
short time become very uncomfortable for the dog,
especially if the dog is walked on mainly grassed
areas, as concrete helps file the nails down. Bring
your dog into us and we can either clip or grind
your dog’s nails down to stop them becoming sore for
your dog.
Ear plucking can be done in only a few minutes and
it can help stop things like ear wax build up which
can sometimes cause ear infections. What happens is
that the hair inside your dog’s ear canal and
surrounds is gently plucked out and then the ear
cleaned with ear cleaner. Dogs with long ears that
hang over the ear canal, such as spaniels, bichon
frise and poodles, benefit from regular ear
plucking.
Short haired dogs can be brought in when they have
been rolling in mud, made it into the compost heap,
rubbish or anything else that makes a terrible
smell, we will clean them up, give them a bath and
send them home smelling sweet again.
Barley grass is a type of grass that has a sharp barbed seed that can pierce a dogs skin and actually travel through the body cavities and cause serious harm. At the very least it can be an expensive vet bill to have removed!! The barbs on the seeds catch in dogs fur much like a 'biddy-bid' does, and once caught in the fur it's only a small step for it to start catching on the skin and work it's way in.
At The Dogs Body we offer a quick trim that will minimise the risk of barley grass by shaving the hair out from all the most common areas that barley grass penetrates. By shaving all the hair between the toes and pads of the feet, as well as underneth all four legs and under the ears it makes it that much harder for barley grass to get caught in the first place, as well as making it easy to check if it IS there and remove it without a problem!
Below is some 'before and after' photos of "Ted" getting his barley grass trim; you can clearly see the difference it makes to the amount of hair that barley grass can get caught in, and how easy it will now be to clearly see in those important folds and corners when checking him over for the seeds.
